Goodbye SMU

Well I think it's about time I changed my Artists Statement, as I'm not a student at Swansea Metropolitan University anymore.
Just need to say, my time at SMU has been the best, I've meet amazing people and made the best friends I could have wished for, and I am going to miss them all!

Yesterday I graduated from Swansea Metropolitan University
and I had a lovely day with my friends and family!

The design

Choosing the glass

Not the colours I'd planned on using, but just love this glass and that's how it happens sometimes, the grand plans goes out the window and the glass takes control

Sorting out colours that would go to together well

Pleased with it so far but it needs something extra

Umm....  I like it!!

On the bottom of the panel, I decided to use Tekta fusing glass and frit,
I used fuchsia, cobalt blue & cranberry powder frit with a sprinkle of fuchsia fine frit

Today I started to lead my panel, with means making sure the glass fits the design correctly
The glass needs to fit inside the black line as the heart of the lead needs to sit on the line.

The top half of my panel leaded

Once leaded the joints need to be cleaned with a wire brush and then the Tallow is applied, which  looks like a candle stick

Then the each joint is soldered

Unfortunately the coloured frit was to pale on it's 1st firing , so I had to add more and needed to be re-fired

Just finished soldering my panel just have to cement it now - I don't like cementing but that's life!!
